Legal Counsel – Trademarks and Brand related IP

To the Trademarks and Brand related IP team within Sandvik Group’s Legal Support, we’re now looking for an analytical and open-minded Legal Counsel. The complexity of multiple markets, laws and regulations is an everyday challenge, and managing IP rights are vigorous and important elements of Sandvik’s business operations. Our team secure, defend and enforce trademarks, domain names and copyrights all over the world in order to create business value for our organization. Our mission requires accuracy, strong integrity and solid business understanding, and this is where your competence and experience will play a vital part.

Your mission

As Legal Counsel, you’re our expert and strategic partner – interacting with Group and other business functions to maximize business value by leveraging Sandvik’s brand-related IP-rights. You provide legal advice and risk assessments connected to IP law, such as trademarks, copyrights and domain names, and you develop and implement strategies as well as manage all aspects of our global brand-related IP portfolio. Representing Sandvik before local authorities and government agencies is an important part of your mission, as is drafting, reviewing and negotiating different types of agreements, e.g.  license, settlement, distribution, co-existence and prior-rights. You also manage anti-counterfeiting actions and global enforcements, and to some extent litigations and other legal disputes, including due diligence in acquisitions or divestments. Additionally, you conduct legal training for internal stakeholders and manage outside legal counsel and external vendor relationships in a cost-effective manner.

This position is located at our headquarters at World Trade Center in Stockholm.

Your character

We’re looking for someone with a Master of Law, in combination with extensive knowledge acquired through relevant working experience. You have solid experience from working with IP trademarks at a law firm, or as an inhouse counsel within a corporate legal or IP department. Excellent understanding of brand-related IP law issues, including management of large global portfolios and global enforcement of IP rights, is key to being successful in this position – as are skills in managing litigations and other contested proceedings. You also have core understanding of anti-counterfeit actions, including both offline and online brand enforcement, and of reviewing, drafting and negotiating different types of agreements. We also appreciate understanding and experience from working with branding and marketing. Knowledge of, and the ability to use, the IT system Ipendo Platform is advantageous and, as we act in a global environment, your English skills are excellent, both verbal and written.
