Legal Counsels to Group Legal, General Banking Law (location: any of the Nordic capitals)

You will join a Nordic unit where we have close collaboration cross border. Your focus areas will be legal matters supporting Nordea’s investment in future banking, such as digitalisation, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements within IT. The position we offer

In Group Legal, General Banking Law, we support the organisation with legal advice in a wide range of issues related to financial regulations, digital banking and financial products, as well as other legal areas, such as data protection, intellectual property rights and consumer law. We aim for always keeping a customer and business focus in everything we do.

As Legal Counsel, you will contribute with your expertise, by giving high quality legal support and service, as well as drafting and negotiating outsourcing-, IT- and procurement agreements.

You will:

  • Support business areas by providing professional legal advice and guidance within general banking law.  

  • Manage issues related to agreements, and update our template agreements.  

  • Participate in internal implementation projects of new regulations, and be involved in the development and implementation of new products.

  • Assess and inform internal stakeholders on relevant laws, regulations and market practices in order to enhance awareness of legal risks and opportunities.

  • With genuine team focus, cooperate to secure high quality in agreements, in order to safeguard the Nordea brand and trust among customers and society.  

The position can be located in any of the Nordic capitals.  

The qualifications you need

We are looking for you who are motivated by working proactively and supporting the bank in matters related to digitalisation and IT.


  • Have great analytical and communication skills with the ability to break down complex information in an understandable way.  

  • Have proven negotiation skills together with a sound business judgment.  

  • Are service minded and attentive to business needs.  

  • Enjoy working in a team where you encourage collaboration, but can at the same time run responsibilities independently.  

  • Are confident in interacting and building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.  

You have:  

  • Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements preferably within IT.  

  • Experience in working with legal issues related to digitalisation.  

  • Knowledge in the personal data regulation.  

It will be considered an advantage if you have knowledge and experience in working with financial regulations.

You have a Master degree in law, and you manage the English and a Nordic local language fluently, both spoken and written.
